Read this carefully before you start
Task one
The Internet is huge and there are a lot of sites for learners of English. However, the quality of these sites varies a great deal. This task is to help you see the different types of quizzes available. In pairs look at each of the four quizzes below. Answer the following questions:
Is the quiz interactive?
Are the correct answers given?
Can you get a hint if you are stuck?
Can you redo the quiz?
Are explanations given to correct and/or incorrect answers?
Are you directed to further advice or quizzes?
1. present perfect 1 Read the instructions carefully. If you get stuck follow the link to find an explanation.
2. present perfect 2 Choose the correct verb.
3. verb form What is the correct verb form?
4. present perfect 4 For each of these six statements, choose the one correct answer.
5. present perfect or past tense Answer the multiple choice questions.
Think about the positive and negative points for each type of quiz. Which one did you like and why? Do you and your partner agree? Is it important that you agree with each other?
You should not be reading in detail or completing any quizzes now.
Tip: complete a quiz by choosing random answers. This will tell you what kind of feedback the quiz will give you.
